The Art of Busy

We American’s have glamorized busy. Is busy glamorous? If so, why? I ask my self this all the time. Why did I use to say so often when working in Corporate America? I was busy…how often did I say I was so busy?  The answer is A LOT!  Busy was a way of life.  Not being busy for me I felt guilty.  Not a little guilty, like epic levels of guilty, so I always put more and more on my plate so I wouldn’t ever be not busy.  I compared my busy to other peoples busy to make sure I won the busy war within my own head.  By the way, no one was actually competing with me on busy, but I needed that comparison to prove worth in my own mind. It had to stop!

Here’s what I’ve learned from quitting my job and starting my own business, busy isn’t sexy. In fact, it’s anything but sexy.

I did a fun exercise I did to prove my point on how unsexy busy actually is.

List the benefits of being busy and on the other side, list all you have missed by being busy. (worksheet attached below)

Does the hustle need to be so hustled?

If your benefits of not being busy outweighs being busy, see what you can take off your plate so you can slow down and enjoy life a bit more. What doesn’t have to be done now and can wait a bit.
